"Whatever you do, Paint!"
"Who, me..? Paint?!?"
"Whatever you do, Paint!"
My body lit up like fireworks, electric energy running from the tips of my toes to the hairs on my head, in that moment I knew those words were my next step. I had been asking for guidance, direction, ways I could spread more light in the world and there it was, loud and clear.
"Whatever you do, Paint!"
When you hear and feel words that make your soul light up inside, even if they seem crazy, you follow through because inspired thought is on the precipice of all things wild, wonderful, and extraordinary! Those words felt more like a command than a suggestion. I asked, I listened, and I followed through unsure of the outcome but knowing I was being led to my answer.
I went home, prepared to get some paint and paint my hall bathroom but I walked in the door to find my kids watercolor painting at the kitchen counter. Again my body lit up with energy and I knew the what those words meant. I quickly gathered up my kids watercolor set while my husband made dinner and began my wildest, most magical journey since becoming a mother.
Having never studied art, I was setting off on a path open and free to do whatever it was I would do. As I started painting I became lost in each piece, intuitively putting pigment to paper and discovering the magic inside watercolor and myself. .
A deep connection to the Earth and it's waters are guiding forces in my life and now my artwork. I have always been in, around, or near the water since as early as I can remember. Growing up I spent summers among the beautiful back bay of Upper Saranac Lake nestled among the Adirondack Mountains. Mid- September beach vacations to Kure Beach, North Carolina gazing out at the vast Atlantic horizon, the small creek behind a neighborhood park where I spent many a day sitting among the life of the woods listening to the water bubble over the rocks and fallen branches. These are the places where I would find my silence amidst the noise. These are places etched into my heart and soul forever. Each having a place and space among my fondest memories.
Whether it's the sounds of crashing ocean waves,
bubbling, babbles of the brook,
or the stillness of a lakes foggy early dawn,
there is a sense of eternal oneness when you are around the Earth's waters.
Their cleansing power washes away fear and connects me with all that is.
Reminding me to follow those intuitive voices, inspired thoughts, and ideas that lead to what magic is just over the horizon.
My hope is that sharing my story and work will bring you the inspiration
to follow your intuitive voice;
believe that all things wild and wonderful
are within your reach.
